JailBreak 4.2.10

This is an update to the previous jailbreak that I made. There was some major problems with the previous version of RedSn0w 0.9.8b4. In this newer version of RedSn0W (0.9.8b7a) there shouldn’t be any problems.

This is a simple step by step guide, brought to you by Nic Coventry | The Recovering Banker

Step 1) Download RedSn0w 0.9.8b7a

Mac Version: http://goo.gl/MMhCu

Windows Version: http://bit.ly/qeOc7A

Step 2) Downloand iOS 4.2.10: http://bit.ly/pspPAD

Step 3) Follow Instructions in the Video!

This is a very simple step by step video above, that will show you one of the few iOS 4.2.10 JailBreaks that actually work. The previous version of RedSn0w (0.9.8b4) worked completely fine, until you would go to use Cydia, and install something, once you install an App through Cydia, and you went to reboot your Verizon iPhone 4, running iOS 4.2.10 the iPhone would freeze up. I made a video about how to go about doing this JailBreak, but I didn’t realize that it wouldn’t work after I installed something through Cydia.

iOS 4.2.10 will never have an untethered JailBreak, according to my sources. We are going to have to simply wait until iOS 5.0 comes out which sucks.

RedSn0w is very simple to use, and if you follow my instructions in this video, you will have great success JailBreaking your Verizon iPhone 4, running iOS 4.2.10 if you have problems with this version of RedSn0w for whatever reason, I will be uploading a simple video on how to Restore you Verizon iPhone 4 running iOS 4.2.10 Its super simple.

Jailbreaking your Verizon iPhone 4 has a lot of benefits, if you’re running iOS 4.2.10 then of course, like I’ve mentioned, its tethered. What a tethered Jailbreak is, it means if you shut your Verizon iPhone 4 off, then when you turn it back on, you basically have to ReJailBreak it using RedSn0w 0.9.8b7a its a lot quicker then actually jailbreaking, but its a major pain in the ass if you’re out and about and your Verizon iPhone 4 (iOS 4.2.10) goes dead on you.

Are you using the new version of RedSn0w the first version that came out had this exact problem, the newer version does not. I’d recommend UnJailBreaking and starting over. Sorry about your luck…

  14. Nic Coventry says:

    Try a different package…

  15. Nic Coventry says:

    The newest one that’s available.

  16. Nic Coventry says:

Did you use the new version of RedSn0w and reboot tethered once first?

  17. Nic Coventry says:

Go to the video on YouTube, there’s a person in the comments a couple weeks back that had the same problem, check out how they fixed it there. I’ve never had that problem.

  18. Nic Coventry says:

    strange… I don’t know.

  19. Nic Coventry says:

See the video of this on YouTube, there’s someone who had the same problem, and had to fix it. Go back about 2 weeks on the comments, and you should find it. Let me know what happens. I’ve never had this problem so I don’t know how to fix it.

  20. Nic Coventry says:

    Reboot tethered.

    Finally Worked!!!!

  22. Amy says:

@Nic – I had an jailbroken, untethered iPhone 4 4.2.6 for months, but unfortunately something happened and my iPhone went haywire. I was forced to restore my iPhone 4 to 4.2.10. Now there is no choice but to have a tethered jailbreak; not to happy. :( I’m not an expert at jailbreaking, so pardon the dumb question I’m about to ask… You wrote there will not be an untethered jailbreak for 4.2.10, and that we will have to wait for iOS 5.0 to come out. Does this mean we will soon be able to upgrade our firmware on the iPhone 4 to iSO 5.0, and have an untethered jailbreak on the iPhone 4 again? Or will we need to purchase the new iPhone 5 running iSO 5.0 to be able to have an unththered jailbreak? Again, I’m sorry for the ignorant question. Thanks for the helpful video!

I am trying to download the iOS…so i pick: iPhone, 4 (but i dont have a “4″ option, it is 4 CDMA), 4.2.10. so my question is, do i pick 4 CDMA?

  24. Nic Coventry says:

    Yes, CDMA iPhone 4

  25. Nic Coventry says:

great question, you can upgrade to iOS 5.0 and then eventually JailBreak UnTethered, right now there’s only a Tethered JailBreak and its only working on iPhone 4 and iPods, and iPad 1′s. It doesn’t work on iPhone 4S or iPad 2 yet…

  26. Nic Coventry says:

    Awesome, glad to hear!

  27. Andrew says:

Hello. I have 4.2.10 installed. Can I use the IOS 5 jailbreak or must I use this version? Thanks in advance.

  28. Nic Coventry says:

Andrew, you can upgrade to iOS 5.0 and then JailBreak following my instructions for iOS 5 or you can keep iOS 4.2.10 and follow my instructions for that one.
